A sealed envelope with a seed phrase is not a plan. Savel gives your heirs a rehearsed, non-custodial recovery path — without ever holding your funds today.
You hold your Key. A Family Recovery Key is sealed for your heirs. Savel holds one co-signing key (software or air-gapped).
Register one heir per wallet with their email. We walk them through the recovery process so they know exactly what to do when the time comes.
When a recovery is triggered, we try to reach you first. You have a chance to stop it if it is not the time. Only then does Savel co-sign with the heir.
The heir holds only the backup key — it cannot move funds alone. With Savel's co-signature, they recover what is theirs.
Bitcoin is a bearer asset — whoever holds the keys controls the funds. Without a proper inheritance plan, your bitcoin may never reach the right people.
Bitcoin lost forever
If something happens to you and no one knows how to access your wallet, your bitcoin is gone. The network does not recognize death certificates or court orders — no keys, no funds.
Heirs can't recover
Multisig and hardware wallets are secure, but they require technical knowledge. Grieving heirs often fail to recover funds without guided support.
DIY is fragile
Dead man's switches, seed phrases in safes, and pre-signed transactions are brittle. One mistake — a lost backup, a spent UTXO, a fee spike — and the plan fails.
The key you give as backup to a family member. Created offline, stored safely, and protected by design. The heir holds only this key — it cannot move funds without Savel's co-signature.
This key is created offline and stored as a backup with your family member, preferably in another physical location.
One key alone is never enough. Your family member (and any thief) can't move your funds with only this key.
If they lose it, you still have access. Your other keys keep you in control.
